AWEX at Africa Health Exhibition - May 201507/04/2016
From 5-7 May, the AWEX participated for the 1st time to the Africa Health Exhibition that took place at the Gallagher Expo Centre in Midrand.
In total there were 16 Belgian companies represented, of which 4 were present on the AWEX stand that was shared with our colleagues of the Flanders region. Africa Health is a trade show that focusses on medical equipment and supplies. This year, it attracted over 500 exhibitors and more than 7,000 visitors, mainly from South Africa but also from the neighbouring countries. It is the biggest fair in the sub-Saharan region in this sector, although it is not as extensive as the Dubai edition of this fair.
2 out of the 4 companies that were exhibiting are already present in South Africa through representatives, i.e. OncoDNA and H&O Equipment. For them, the fair offered the opportunity to meet with existing customers and approach new prospects. On the other hand, Droper and SMI were present to evaluate the market potential and lay contacts with potential distributors. In order to prepare the show efficiently for these companies, the AWEX office in Johannesburg had invited potential distributors and clients to visit these 2 companies at the fair. As a result, both companies had interesting leads and are now following up on the various contacts they had.
